What is Making Tax Digital for Income Tax?

MTD for Income Tax requires self-employed individuals and landlords with qualifying income above £10,000 to keep digital records and submit quarterly updates to HMRC, replacing the annual self assessment return. It applies from April 2026. We are preparing all relevant clients now.

Which accounting software should I use for MTD?

Xero and QuickBooks are both fully MTD-compatible and our preferred platforms. The right choice depends on your business type, volume of transactions, and integrations you need. We set up and configure your software as part of our service.

Will MTD for Income Tax affect Brighton landlords?

Yes. Landlords with rental income above £10,000 (combined with any self-employment income) will need to comply with MTD for Income Tax from April 2026. This means quarterly digital submissions rather than one annual return. We will manage this transition for all our landlord clients.
